2025-2026 National Science, History & Geography Bee Regional Tournaments

For the 2025-26 school year, regionals are open to students in all grade levels (Pre-K-12). Students in grades Pre-K-8 must qualify via the Online Regional Qualifying Exam while students in grades 9-12 can register directly. Students may typically compete at any site (including sites outside their state) as long as they are qualified (if applicable) and have not already played that tournament’s designated set of questions. Tournaments noted as “Closed” are open only to the students specified on that tournament’s page. If you have any questions about eligibility please reach out to iac-info@iacompetitions.com prior to registering.

Note: Students may only play each subject ONCE per question set (Red, White, Blue, and Gold), meaning each student can play a maximum of four Science, History & Geography Bee Regionals for each subject. However, students may also compete in National History Bee at National History Bee and Bowl Regionals on each of those three sets (C, B, and A) for a total of up to seven History Bee regionals per school year. The Red, White, and Blue Sets have a comparable level of difficulty; the Gold Set is slightly more challenging as it is meant as a tune-up for Nationals.

  • National Science, History & Geography Bee – Event Descriptions

  • Costs: $50 per bee subject (both in-person and online tournaments). $20 per National Qualifying Exam (in-person and online) Note: this fee must be paid each time you register to play. View our Events Costs & Policies here.

  • Processing Fee: Online payments will include a non-refundable 5% processing fee.

  • Bulk Registration: If you are a school wishing to sign-up 10 or more students please click here.

  • Hosting: Interested in hosting an event at your school this year? Please email iac-info@iacompetitions.com.

  • Registration Deadlines: Regionals registrations for the Science, History & Geography Bees typically close on the 2nd Monday (12 days) before the tournament date at 11:59 pm EASTERN TIME.

    • Once registration closes, there will be a late registration (waitlist) process. For all tournaments, there is a $10 per bee registration surcharge (for a total of $60 per bee subject) for registering after the deadline.
    • After the deadline has passed, we fix the field cap and lock registrations and are unable to guarantee a spot in the competition. If you wish to register late, please follow the instructions on the tournament’s registration page. If more spots are available, a staff member will follow up with instructions and a link to register and make payment.
    • History Bowl and Academic Bowl registrations typically have their first deadline on the 2nd Friday (8 days) before the tournament date at 11:59pm Eastern time. After this date, until 11:59pm on the Monday (5 days) before the tournament, teams may register for a slight surcharge.
    • After the second deadline, tournament registration cannot be guaranteed; please email iac-info@iacompetitions.com to see if space is available. If so, there is a further surcharge.
