Regionals Event Registration

  • The National History, Geography, and Science Bee Regionals (formerly Middle and Elementary School Regional Finals) are now open to ALL grade levels with added Varsity and JV divisions.
  • National History Bee & Bowl Regionals (formerly Varsity and Junior Varsity Regionals) have team (Bowl) and individual (Bee) competitions and are also open to all grade levels, though 8th grade-and-under teams typically play in the JV Division unless there are at least four Middle and/or Elementary teams to create a separate division.

2024-2025 National Science, History, & Geography Bee Regional Tournaments

New for the 2024-25 school year, regionals are open to students in all grade levels (K-12). Students in grades K-8 must qualify via the Online Regional Qualifying Exam while students in grades 9-12 can register directly. Students may compete at any site (including sites outside their state) as long as they are qualified (if applicable) and have not already played that tournament’s designated set of questions.

Note: Students may only play each subject ONCE per question set (Red, White and Blue), meaning each student can play a maximum of three Science, History, and Geography Bee Regionals for each subject. However, students may also compete in National History Bee at National History Bee and Bowl Regionals on each of those three sets (C, B and A) for a total of up to six History Bee regionals per school year. The Red, White, and Blue sets have a comparable level of difficulty.

  • Costs: $49 per bee subject (both in-person and online tournaments). $20 per exam (in-person and online) Note: this fee must be paid each time you register to play. The exams being offered are Political Science and US History.

  • Processing Fee: Credit card payments will include a non-refundable 4% credit card processing fee.

  • Bulk Registration: If you are a school wishing to sign-up 10 or more students please reach out to ems-info@iacompetitions.com.

  • Hosting: Interested in hosting an event at your school this year? Please email ems-info@iacompetitions.com.

  • Registration Deadlines: Regional Finals registrations for the History Bee, Geography Bee, and Science Bee typically close on the 2nd Monday (12 days) before the tournament date at 11:59 pm EASTERN TIME. Once registration closes there will be a late registration (waitlist) process. For all tournaments, there is a $10 per bee registration surcharge (for a total of $59 per bee subject) for registering after the deadline. After the deadline has passed, we fix the field cap and lock registrations and are unable to guarantee a spot in the competition. If you wish to register late, please follow the instructions on the tournament’s registration page, and if more positions are available, a staff member will follow up with instructions and a link to register and make payment.
History Bowl and Academic Bowl registrations typically have their first deadline on the 2nd Friday (8 days) before the tournament date at 11:59pm Eastern time. After this date, until 11:59pm on the Monday (5 days) before the tournament, teams may register for a slight surcharge. After the second deadline, tournament registration cannot be guaranteed, though email ems-info@iacompetitions.com to see if space is available. If so, there is a further surcharge.
