About Varsity & Junior Varsity Nationals
The 2027 International Academic Competitions suite of Varsity and Junior Varsity National Championships events are taking place from late April to late May of 2027. The list of Nationals events as well as when and where they take place are found below.

Please note that according to the IAC Stay-to-Play Policy staying at one of the official host hotels is required for all families outside a 100-mile driving radius of the Crystal Gateway Marriott.

The National History Bowl requires prior qualifying at the Regional Tournament level.

The National History Bee requires prior qualifying at either National History Bowl and Bee Regional Tournaments or at National Science, Geography & History Bee Regional Tournaments.

The National Science Bee is open only to students who have qualified either on the Varsity / Junior Varsity National Science Bee National Qualifying Exam or a National Science, Geography & History Bee Regional Tournament.

The US Geography Championships, National Geography Bee, and US Geography Bee are open only to students who have qualified either on the Varsity / Junior Varsity Geography National Qualifying Exam or a National Science, Geography & History Bee Regional Tournament. Note that students in 8th grade and under are eligible to compete in the Junior Varsity Division of the US Geography Championships and the National Geography Bee, but not the US Geography Bee. Students in 8th grade and younger interested in competing in the US Geography Bee must compete in their age division within the Middle and Elementary School Divisions which takes place in-person in Orlando. These run simultaneously with the Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions for the US Geography Bee (which take place online). The National Political Science Bee, US History Bee, National Humanities Bee, and National Biology Bee are open only to students who have qualified on their respective Varsity / Junior Varsity National Qualifying Exams. Note that students in 8th grade and under are eligible to compete in the Junior Varsity Division of the National Political Science Bee and the US History Bee, but not the National Humanities Bee or the National Biology Bee. Students in 8th grade and younger interested in competing in those must compete in their age division within the Middle and Elementary School Divisions. These run simultaneously with the Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions for these competitions. No qualification is required to compete in any of the National Championship Exams or the National Academic Bee.

No qualification is required to compete in the Varsity and Junior Varsity National Championships of the National Geography Bowl. The Junior Varsity Division of the National Geography Bowl is limited to students in 9th grade and 10th grade. Students in younger grades must compete in their age division within the Middle and Elementary School Divisions of the National Geography Bowl. These run simultaneously with the Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions for the National Geography Bowl. All National Geography Bowl age divisions are held online. No qualification is required for students in 9th-12th grade to take part in the National Spanish Bee. Please note that students in these grades may only enter the Open Classification of the National Spanish Bee. Students in 8th grade and younger are ineligible to compete in the Varsity or Junior Varsity Divisions of the National Spanish Bee. Students in 8th grade and younger interested in competing in the National Spanish Bee must compete in their age division within the Middle and Elementary School Divisions. These run simultaneously with the Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions for the National Spanish Bee. All age divisions play the National Spanish Bee online. Registration for the 2027 International Academic Competitions Varsity & Junior Varsity National Championships is currently closed. It will reopen in Fall 2026, no later than early November.
