This just in from Puerto Rico!!🇵🇷 The Secretary of Education, Eliezer Ramos Parés, presented scholarships to students from the Social Studies Program in recognition of their outstanding performance in important academic skills.🥇 Five students from the University Gardens School received a $500 check each for their participation in the Puerto Rico History Bee and Bowl competition, a competition that evaluates knowledge in history, geography, political science, natural sciences, and humanities. The awarded students are: • Julián Caldero Rivera • Víctor Román Saldaña • Emmanuel Vizcaya Torres • Karlos Fernández Lozada • Adiel Torres Resto Congrats to these competitors and their advisor, Inez B. Velez! And thanks to @normanjaf for the news tip! “together, we share one working larynx.” Probably the most recognizable (and certainly the loudest!) group of people in the Geography Championships, the “Wemby Gang” seem to never run out of energy to give, chants to shout, and points to score. Having met at EMS Nats in May, the gang, all students of Coach Bodha and devotees of the NBA runner-up (writer’s note: knicks in five.), came into IGC as good friends and study buddies already, and seem to have only gotten closer.
