National History Bowl
The National History Bowl is a buzzer-based team history quiz competition with approximately 100 regional and state tournaments at the Varsity & JV levels. Teams consist of up to 6 students, up to 4 of whom play together at any given time. Solo-student teams are also encouraged to compete and often do so. Each regional or state tournament runs on either the A, B, or C Set of questions, so teams can compete up to three times. At all regional and state tournaments students can qualify for the annual National Championships. The next National History Bowl National Championships will be held on April 27-30, 2023 in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA. Nationals typically attracts over 250 teams, and approximately 1000 students each year!
National History Bee

The National History Bee is a buzzer-based history quiz competition for individual students, with approximately 100 regional and state tournaments at the Varsity & Junior Varsity levels. All of these tournaments have both Bee and Bowl components; students may compete in both as they run at separate times. Attendance at National History Bee and Bowl regional and state tournaments, as well as the National Championships (if qualified) is also open to students in 8th grade and younger, regardless of whether they are competing in the National History Bee’s official Middle School and Elementary School competitions (this does not apply to National Championships held online, though). The next Varsity & JV National History Bee National Championships will be held on April 27-30, 2023 in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA.
International History Olympiad
The International History Olympiad is a week-long history extravaganza, held every two years – the next Olympiad will take place in Krakow, Poland in Summer 2023. The Olympiad consists of numerous buzzer-based and other competitions, sightseeing, and special events with students from around the world. Students in the USA qualify by finishing in the top half at either the 2022 or 2023 National Championships, by finishing in the top half of the History Bee in either the 2021-2022 or 2022-2023 academic years, or on a team in the History Bowl in those academic years. Students can also qualify by competing on a History Bowl team that wins a regional or state tournament or by finishing in the top 25% at any History Bee regional tournament in their age division. At the Olympiad, students compete for their home state, or for a foreign country, if they have a foreign passport and choose to do so.
US History Bee
The US History Bee is a buzzer-based American History quiz competition for individual students. It is a separate competition from the National History Bee (which unlike the US History Bee, also has world history questions). It consists of the National Qualifying Exam, which is offered at all National History Bee and Bowl Varsity & Junior Varsity regional and state tournaments, (or it can be taken with a school or homeschool proctor) and the annual National Championships which will next be held on April 27-28 2023 in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA.
US Geography Championships

The US Geography Championships (formerly known as the US Geography Olympiad) is a geography knowledge competition, consisting of the National Qualifying Exam, and the National Championships. The National Championships is entirely exam-based and focuses on applications of geographic knowledge. The same qualifying exam is used for both this and the International Geography Bee. The Varsity & JV National Qualifying Exam for USGC and IGB is given at each of the approximately 100 regional and state tournaments for the National History Bee and Bowl, or students can take the NQE at their school or with a homeschool instructor proctoring it.
At the National Championships, most students compete in both USGC and the International Geography Bee US National Championships, though there is no obligation to do so. Once students are Varsity-eligible, they can also compete in the USGC National Championships for a chance to win one of 4 spots on Team USA at the annual International Geography Olympiad held each summer. The next Varsity & JV USGC National Championships will be held on April 28, 2023 in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA.
International Geography Bee

The International Geography Bee is a worldwide geography quiz competition, consisting of the National Qualifying Exam, the US National Championships, and the biennial International Geography Championships. The National Championships is entirely buzzer-based; the International Geography Championships is multifaceted and takes place over a week in the summer. The next International Geography Championships will be held in Summer 2024 in Ecuador (Quito, the Amazon, and the Galapagos).

National Political Science Bee
The National Political Science Bee is a competition for individual students, with questions on all aspects of political science, including US and foreign politics, international relations, political theory, current events, and more. It consists of the National Qualifying Exam, which is offered at all National History Bee and Bowl Varsity & Junior Varsity regional and state tournaments (or it can be taken online) and the annual National Championships which will next be held on April 27-28 in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA. At the National Championships, participating students are also able to take part in a seminar with politicians, policy makers, or other influential people who are active in public affairs.
National Science Bee
The National Science Bee is a science quiz competition for individual students, with questions from biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, astronomy, mathematics, and other scientific fields. At the Varsity and JV levels, the National Science Bee consists of two stages: the National Qualifying Exam and the National Championships. The National Qualifying Exam is given during the lunch break at each National History Bee and Bowl Varsity and JV regional or state tournament, or it may be taken online. The National Championships are entirely buzzer-based and will next be held on April 28-30, 2023 in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA.
