Registration and Costs for National Science, History, & Geography Bee Regional Tournaments – In-Person Events (Updated 8/29/25)

Preregistration prices (at least 12 days ahead of the event) for the 2025-2026 academic year are:

Buzzer-based Events
$50 per Bee subject (Science, History, or Geography). A $10 late penalty per subject is assessed after the registration deadline.

National Qualifying Exams
$20 per Qualifying Exam subject. No late fees apply.
Note: Students who place in the top 50% in their age division qualify for Nationals in these events. At Nationals, all of these events are structured as buzzer-based quiz tournaments.
National Biology Bee
National Citizenship Bee (Government, Business, Politics, Current Events, US History, US Geography, American Society)
National Humanities Bee (Literature, Fine Arts, Religion, Mythology, Philosophy)
National Mathematics Bee
US Geography Bee
US History Bee

Please note that registration and participation in International Academic Competitions implies the acceptance of the following policies. In particular, please note our policy on preregistrations, cancellations and reader requirements!

Advance Registration
Advance registration for the National Science, History, & Geography Bee is REQUIRED. Registration will not be accepted via email or any other means; all registrations must be done online. Preregistration by credit card includes a 5% online processing fee.

Late Registration
Registrations are subject to an additional $10 per entry if made after 11:59pm Eastern time 12 days in advance of a tournament (i.e. to avoid this late fee, you need to register by 11:59pm Eastern time by the second Monday before a Saturday tournament). After this point, registration is no longer guaranteed.

Refunds
Refund requests made 12 days in advance (i.e. at 11:59pm on the Monday 2 weeks before a Saturday tournament) will be honored minus $10 per primary bee subject (Science, History, or Geography); refunds will not be given after that point. National Qualifying Exams cannot be refunded at any point, but those fees can be transferred to doing the exams online or at a rescheduled tournament.

Rescheduling Tournament Registration(s)

  • Tournament rescheduling requests submitted prior to the tournament deadline (i.e. by 11:59 PM on the Monday 2 weeks before a Saturday tournament) will be honored without a fee.
  • Tournament rescheduling requests submitted during the waitlist process (i.e. the week of the deadline) will incur a $10 per bee subject fee.
  • Tournament rescheduling requests during the week of the tournament, due to emergency, must first be approved by IAC before a the form can be submitted, this would be subject to a $20 per bee subject fee.
  • There are no fees to reschedule National Qualifying Exams, but these cannot be refunded for rescheduled tournaments, only reapplied to them.
