Select 4th Grade, 5th Grade, History, Geography, and Science Teachers around the US will have the opportunity to nominate up to five students per class. Nomination is done in the form of a Silver Ticket; each Silver Ticket has a Nomination Code which can be used to register for our Regional Finals competitions. Students who are given the Silver Ticket are eligible for up to three Regional Finals competitions (once at a tournament using the Red Question Set, once at a tournament using the White Question Set and once at a tournament using the Blue Question Set) in the subject(s) specified on the Silver Ticket (History, Geography, and/or Science).
Students who receive a Silver Ticket will qualify for the Regional Finals, which are mainly in-person, buzzer-based events. There will be Regional Finals held all over the country (as well as online), between October and April. You can find the list of events at this link.
Three events are played at the Regional Finals: The National History Bee, The National Science Bee, and The International Geography Bee, and each event is $45. To participate in each event at the Regional Finals, students must be nominated by their teacher and enter the nomination code from their Silver Ticket.
Students can qualify for the National Championships in each event if they finish in the top 50% of students who played in their division. Students who are participating in the National History Bee, National Science Bee or International Geography Bee that finish in the top 25% of those who played in their divisions qualify for the International History Olympiad, the International Environmental Science Olympiad and the International Geography Championships, respectively (See Step Four).
The 2023 Elementary and Middle School National Championships will take place in Arlington, VA from June 1-4, 2023. Students at Nationals who are participating in the National History Bee, National Science Bee, International Geography Bee or US Geography Championships that finish in the top half of their division qualify for the International History Olympiad, the International Environmental Science Olympiad and the International Geography Championships, respectively.
There are many more competitions beyond the three marquee competitions that are crowned at the National Championships! Check out the Nationals page to learn more about them!
